‘HeyMath!’ programme at GIIS now for students of classes 1 to 8

  • HeyMath! programme has been extended for students of classes 1 and 2 across all GIIS campuses in Singapore from the academic year 2015-16
  • The programme was introduced in the previous academic year for classes 3 to 8, and highly-benefitted students. It was also well-received by parents and teachers.

GIIS campuses in Singapore have extended the ‘HeyMath!’ programme to classes 1 and 2 in order to familiarise students with the joy of learning math and hone their mathematical skills from an early age. GIIS introduced ‘HeyMath!’ for students of classes 3 to 8 (CBSE) and class 8 (IGCSE) in 2014-15.

HeyMath! is a pioneering initiative that has been recognized as one of the 25 most innovative companies in 2007 by Microsoft in a nation-wide survey in India, and helps students to hone logical thinking and problem solving skills. A world-class e-learning programme for Mathematics, HeyMath! (www.heymath.com) is used by over 500,000 students and 4,000 teachers in over 50 countries.

Through ‘HeyMath!’, the school’s focus has been on self-learning mechanisms for students though the e-learning module, e-worksheets for additional reinforcement and e-assessments for diagnostic testing and identifying students’ learning outcomes and gaps.

Components of HeyMath!

  1. Interactive e-lessons: These are specific reading materials or lessons assigned by the teacher that are mapped to the curriculum.
  2. Worksheets: These can be downloaded and submitted on paper or in notebook to the teacher as directed
  3. Online Tests: Tests have to be taken online and the results will be published as soon as the test is complete and submitted
  4. Archived assignments: Archived assignments are those which are past the due date for submission. They can still be accessed and are available to submit, but past the due date.
