Teaching of English Language could be the toughest task.

The First International Conference for English language teacher education was organized jointly by the British Council and the English and Foreign Languages University. Five hundred delegates from 18 countries have participated in 3 day conference titled “Starting, Stimulating and Sustaining English Language – Teacher Education and Development”.

Teaching and learning of English is not only a Pedagogic challenge but also a social challenge in a multi lingual nation such as India. The techniques and methods used in urban areas is not the same to be implemented in the rural areas at the primary level.

In order to attain the development in schools the teacher development in learning the English language for specific purposes has become compulsory. The teachers of GIIS - Mrs. Vijayalakshmi and Mrs. Sandhya felt proud and privileged to be the delegates of the conference.
