The Short Story Writing Competition concluded on a successful note, with students displaying their creativity through their excellent stories. The class champions received certificates for their outstanding story writing skills on 10 June 2015. Ms Rajeswary Sambathrajan, Principal of GIIS Tokyo Campus, commended each one of them for their creativity.
Addressing the students, Principal Ms Sambathrajan said, “We believe it is important for students to inculcate the habits of reading and writing at an early age, which will help them to begin the process of self-awareness. With this initiative we hope to groom students to contribute to the building of a talent pool of bright young minds.”

The theme of the competition was announced five minutes before the competition. All the stories had to be within the limit of 200 words. The students were advised that the stories written by them had to be the original work of the student alone and the stories must not have been previously published anywhere such as books, magazines, websites or any other form of publication or media. The judging of the stories was based on creativity and overall composition.
While expressing her gratification at the results, Ms Sobia Ahmed, Head of the English Department, GIIS Tokyo Campus, conveyed, “It was overwhelming to see so many submissions with clear literary vision and voice in their stories.”
