The 71st Independence Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm by a large gathering of about 600 people, including the growing Indian community in Tokyo, media representatives, Japanese friends and well-wishers. At an impressive ceremony at 9:00 a.m., the Ambassador of India, H.E. Sujan R. Chinoy unfurled the national flag, which was followed by the singing of India’s National Anthem. The Hon’ble Ambassador addressed the gathering and read out the President of India’s Address to the Nation on the eve of the 71st Independence Day of India. Students of Global Indian International School, Tokyo sang a patriotic song at the event.
The students of GIIS Tokyo were praised for their impeccable performance. H.E. Ambassador Sujan R. Chinoy, congratulated the GIIS Tokyo students.
The program came to a close after a brief photo session.
