Renowned Indian 3G Team performs live in GIIS Tokyo Campus

It was a proud moment for the students of Global Indian International School Tokyo Campus when India’s famous 3G Team performed live in the campus on 13 April 2016. Students and teachers were spell bounded by the live concert.

The prominent Indian 3G Team consists of Padma Bhushan, Mr Vikku Vinayakram, his son Mr V Selvaganesh, and his grandson, Mr S Swaminathan. Mr Vinayakram is a Grammy Award winning Indian percussionist. He plays Carnatic music with the ghatam, an earthen pot, and is credited with popularising the ghatam. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan in 2014.

Mr V Selvaganesh, his son, is an Indian percussionist working in the Carnatic tradition and one of the leading Kanjira (South Indian frame drum) players of his generation. He is also known as "Chella S Ganesh." The concert was followed by a workshop by the team for students of classes 4 and above.

After the concert, the students asked various questions to Mr Viku Vinayakram. It was followed by a vote of thanks by Mr Stephen, English Teacher at GIIS Tokyo Campus.
