Karate originated in Okinawa, Japan. It is primarily a striking art using punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes and open-handed techniques such as knife-hands and ridge-hands. Grappling, locks, restraints, throws, and vital point strikes are taught in some styles.

Our Japanese little Karate-masters of GIIS Tokyo Campus, Japan presented their traditional martial art for the benefit of their Indian friends of GIIS India. The black belt stars of GIIS Tokyo Campus, 8-year old Yuuki Kodano and 7-year old Suzuha Kodano have studied Karate for over 4 years .

They shared the benefits of learning Karate. Physical fitness, improving concentration, respect to others, and self-defense being the most important learning of this art. Besides these visible benefits there is a deeper and personal manifestation in the form of peace-making skills for the modern world.

About the black belt, Yuuki said, "The belt has no power. It isnt a magic talisman. It is only what we put into it physically, mentally and spiritually!"

It was a great learning for the students of GIIS India as they watched spell-bound the moves of the GIIS Tokyo karate-kids.
