GIIS Tokyo has introduced the popular online application called Kaleido for its kindergarteners. The application lets the parents take a peek into the life of their wards at school and all the remarkable skills that they are developing. The parents just need to download the application of Kaleido Buzz from the Playstore (if you are using an Android device) or iTunes (if using an iPhone or iPad) and follow some simple steps to get started.

Teachers of respective classes then send the parent code which is needed to use the application for the first time. It is a powerful way to excite the parent community and inspire the students to greater success.
The application enables parents to share pictures and badges celebrating the achievements of their children on social media. Celebrating student success through badges and pictures recognizes their effort and inspires them to excel and the motivated students try even harder and create a name for themselves and their school.
With the introduction of such applications, the school helps to further motivate students to learn academic and soft skills by recognizing and celebrating their achievements. The application delights parents with pictures that show their child participating in various learning activities and descriptive comments that help them appreciate their child’s achievements. Parents can share these updates on social media, allowing friends and family to appreciate the wonderful achievements of the child at school.
The school has also taken a giant leap in classroom teaching as well with the introduction of 25 digital touchscreens at both the campuses. Touchscreens are widely emerging as catalysts to learning and development. All the teachers have been trained to use them (for Grades 1-12) in order to improve the teaching process and encourage students to actively participate in lessons.
At both the campuses, the teachers use digital touchscreens frequently. They are installed in all the classrooms and are proving to be a teacher-friendly aid, supportive in carrying out various activities related to teaching – learning and general operations. Teachers use the digital screens for a variety of purposes while teaching. In addition to browsing various educational websites, an optimum utilization of whiteboard feature for notes, board work, general instructions, etc. is also carried out. The boards are also used for movie clips and other audio- video materials. Books and other reference material is also downloaded and used while teaching.
The students are shown documentaries from BBC, the National Geographic Channel, NHK World online news, images of monuments, heritage sites etc. For languages, the digiboards are also used for interactive grammar lessons, listening comprehensions, discursive online sessions, correct pronunciation of words, vocabulary development and drill exercises for PSAT.
