GIIS Tokyo showcases various activities through the CCA Open Day

GIIS Tokyo and the Indian Embassy in the capital city joined India and the Indian diaspora in celebrating the country’s 69th Republic Day in January 2018. Celebrations at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo started at 8:45 a.m., and like every year, GIIS Tokyo students were invited to take part in the event. The flag-hoisting ceremony and the event were chaired by the Honourable Ambassador of India to Japan, Mr. Sujan R. Chinoy.

The students of GIIS Tokyo performed beautifully and were particularly commended and congratulated by H.E. Mr. Sujan R. Chinoy, himself. Students performed the famous patriotic song titled ‘hum raahi hain, hum saathi hain’.  Their patriotic fervor was well received by the audience and they were praised for a great show.

After the flag hoisting ceremony, the Ambassador read honorable Indian President's address to the nation. The students were trained at the school by the music teachers, Ms. Vinitha, Ms. Gayatri and Ms. Ashwini.

At school, a special assembly was held to mark the occasion. Students sang patriotic songs and delivered speeches about various prominent figures of India’s freedom struggle. A video showcasing the significance of the day was shared with the students during the morning assembly.
