GIIS Tokyo Campus celebrated its Annual Day on 2 December 2015 at the Urayasu Bunka Kaika, Tokyo. The Guest of Honour for the event were Mr Amur Lakshminarayanan, President, CEO and the Representative Director of TCS Japan. Mr Lakshminarayanan delivered an inspirational speech to the audience. Ambassador Aftab Seth, Vice President, Global Schools Foundation and Mr Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, Japan, also addressed the gathering. The school Principal, Ms Rajeshwary Sambathrajan presented her Annual report on the Nine Gems Model. The Japanese translation of the report was also projected on the screen.
Other distinguished guests for the occasion included, Kasai Fire Chief, Mr Nobuo Hasegawa, Senior Detective Kasai Police, Mr Tadahiro Tamura and Senior Kasai Police Officer Mr Yamato Hatakeyama.
The students participated in various programmes like, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Hindustani classical, Tabla, Pianica, Ballet, Kathak and their individual/group performances. Students of Class 8 enacted Ramayana in Japanese (only two children were Japanese/Korean and the rest of them were Indians). For the Kathak performance, five Japanese students performed the dance, which turned out to be an outstanding performance.
This year the school All-rounder Award went to Mayuri Prasad of Class 10 for showing a splendid performance in academics, cultural activities and co-curricular activities.
Several parents congratulated the school Principal for the growth of the school and for the quality of the programmes offered. The school captain, Noah Miyazaki of Class 10, concluded the ceremony with the vote of thanks.
