GIIS Tokyo Campus celebrated Halloween with fun and frolic on October 31, 2012.

Halloween as we all know, is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on October 31, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows. The word Halloween was first used in the 16th century and represents a Scottish variant of the fuller All Hallows Evening, that is, the night before All Hallows Day.

A usual celebration for children on Halloween is the trick-or-treating. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy or sometimes money, with the question, "Trick or treat?" The word "trick" refers to perform mischief on the home owners or their property if no candies are given.

The school principal and teachers also took part in the celebrations by wearing Halloween costumes of supernatural figures. The students wore costumes of monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches, devils and characters from fiction, celebrities, ninjas and princesses. They took part in trick-or-treating, playing pranks and telling scary stories.

As part of the campus continued cross-cultural relationship with the Wakaba International School, this year too the campus jointly conducted a Halloween parade event organised for the Kindergarten section at the Tobu Friends Park. The event included singing of various Halloween songs, dances, playing some games, distribution of treats and a joint address by Principals of both, Wakaba International and GIIS Tokyo Campus. Many parents too attended the event and enjoyed the programme with great enthusiasm.
