Global Indian International School Tokyo students went on an enjoyable and pleasant field trip to various sites this year. Kindergarten students went to the Ueno Zoo. Ueno Zoo, also known as, Onshi Ueno Dōbutsuen in Japanese, is a 35 acre zoo in Tokyo, Japan. It is Japan's oldest zoo that opened in March, 1882. The zoo is in the Ueno Park, a large urban park that is home to museums, a small amusement park, and other attractions.
The students of classes 1-5 went to Anderson Athletic Park in Chiba. There are many kinds of athletic challenges in the athletic path and it takes several hours to complete from start to finish.
The students of classes 6-12 first went to The National Diet, which is Japan's parliament. It is composed of a lower house called the House of Representatives, and an upper house, called the House of Councilors. It is located in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the parliament. This year the school Principal, Ms Rajeswary Sambathrajan also accompanied the students.
The students later visited the famous Edo-Tokyo Museum, which is a museum of the history of Tokyo during the Edo period. It was established in 1993. The main features of the permanent exhibitions are the life-size replica of the Nihonbashi, which was the bridge leading into Edo; the Nakamuraza theatre; and scale models of towns and buildings from the Edo, Meiji and Shōwa periods.
