GIIS Tokyo Chess Champions felicitated at the school

The students of GIIS Tokyo Campus took part in the Third Inter-GIIS Chess Championship, which was hosted by GIIS Surat Campus on 25 January 2016. The chess players of GIIS Tokyo Campus rigorously practiced their chess skills and tried to sharpen their skills of visualisation and analysis. Participating students Duleen Weeraratne, Bipro Biswas, Shojin Harada, Shravan Kruthick and Aditya Sharma were accompanied by their coach, Ms Suhani Kudwa. The students were felicitated with certificates and trophies during the school Morning assembly on 28 January 2016.

The objective of the inter-school competitions was aimed towards increasing the confidence of the students, by lending them an exposure into different cultures and thereby, promoting collaborative learning. Students of various other GIIS campuses also took part in the championship. They were students of GIIS Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Surat, Noida, Indore, Hyderabad and Chinchwad campuses. The chess tournament was conducted with the assistance of Surat District Chess Association, which provided all the required assistance from timers to adjudicators.

GIIS Tokyo Campus team stood third in the GIIS Chess Championship. GIIS Chinchwad Campus stood first and GIIS Indore Campus stood second respectively.
