GIIS Tokyo Campus celebrates India’s 67th Republic Day with a lot of Fervour

Indian diaspora in Japan celebrated the 67th Republic day with a lot of fervour at the Indian Embassy at Kudan Minami, Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan, on 26 January 2016.

The celebrations started early in the morning and as a convention each year, GIIS Tokyo Campus students also took part in the event. The new Honourable Ambassador of India to Japan, Mr Sujan Chinoy, chaired the flag hoisting ceremony. The school Principal Ms Rajeswary Sambathrajan and a few teachers accompanied selected GIIS Tokyo Campus students to the embassy for the event.

Students of GIIS Tokyo Campus sang "Janani Janmabhoomi Swarg Se Mahan Hain," which is a famous Indian patriotic song. It was well received by all and the audience and the Honourable Ambassador, Mr Chinoy praised the students.

Republic Day

At school, a special assembly was held to mark the special occasion of Republic Day. Chrysanthemum house students commenced the special assembly with prayer and the thought of the day. A PowerPoint presentation on the Republic Day was showcased for the entire school, followed by singing a patriotic song by the students. Students also delivered speeches about various prominent figures of India’s freedom struggle and they watched the Indian police and paramilitary officers’ parade as well.

The school choir at the Embassy sang beautifully and were praised by the audience and the Honourable Ambassador, Mr Chinoy.
