GIIS Tokyo Campus Celebrates Annual Sports Meet 2017

The Annual Sports meet of GIIS Tokyo Campus was held at Shinden Elementary School, Nishikasai, Edogawa Ku, on 10 June 2017. Mr. Tamura, Police Inspector at the Kasai Police Station graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor for the Graders event (Grades 3-10), and Mrs. and Mr. Manish Prabhune, graced the event as the Guest of Honor for kindergarteners and grades 1 & 2 event. The guests were welcomed with flower bouquets presented by the students.

All the students depicted a lot of zeal and passion during the event which was well coordinated by the school sports coordinator, Ms. Yasmeen Jahir.

The program was conducted in two separate events. The first one was conducted for the kindergarteners and grades 1 & 2 and it culminated at 11:30 p.m. The event for the rest of the graders began at 12:30 p.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m.

For the first event, students participated in a PT display and various class races. All the parents were thrilled to see their wards taking part in various sports competitions. The Guest of Honor, Mr. Prabhune thanked the spectators and informed them that he thoroughly enjoyed the event. He also awarded medals to all the winners.

Moka Itako of grade 2 delivered a delightful vote of thanks in both English and Japanese. The audience was enthralled to hear her speak.

The next event began with the march past. All the four houses (Chrysanthemum, Hibiscus, Orchid, and Sunflower) of the school took part in the march past. After the march past, the Guest of Honor, Mr. Tamura, declared the school sports meet to be opened.

Ms. Rajeswary Sambathrajan, Principal, GIIS Tokyo Campus, conveyed her best wishes to the students taking part in different races and personally saw to it that the whole event was synchronized perfectly.

The march past was followed by a riveting PT display and a mesmerizing yoga session by the students. Later students took part in relay races and various other races for all the grades from 3-10. The Guest of Honor awarded medals and trophies to all the winners.

School Sports Captain, Abhinava Tejas of Grade 9, delivered the vote of thanks in both English and Japanese.

Hibiscus House

1st runner-up - Chrysanthemum House

Best March Past Trophy:

Sunflower House

1st runner-up - Orchid House
