Let us make a feast
Upon the green grass

And make the moment last…

GIIS Picnic Party

Students of Class 2, GIIS Tokyo Campus were taken for a picnic to Shinozaki Park on November 22, 2012. This activity was taken up to build a better and healthy relationship among the students of Grade 2 and their parents.

Teachers and students along with their parents gathered at the Park at around 10:00 am. Shinozaki Park has beautiful green fields and various sports facilities. It is a precious resource for eastern Tokyo that is lacking in green areas. As there are no tall buildings nearby, the sky seems wider, and the park has a brighter, spread-out feel. The park has 80 cherry trees, and many pines, Japanese Chinquapins, Japanese Pagoda trees, Metasequoias and other trees that dot the grassy hills and fields of the park. The open area is used as a large field for light sports.

Students had snacks and started playing in the park. Teachers along with the parents conducted some games for the children like, Hoola Hoop, a game similar to Musical chairs, Rock-paper-scissors etc.

Parents and teachers took great efforts in planning various games for the students. The parents created a miniature house with candies inside. Students were blindfolded and were asked to hit the miniature house until it fell down. They had great fun sharing the candies with each other. Later the students had lunch and were brought back to school.
