Global Indian International School inaugurated its new High School Campus at the idyllic location of Higashi Kasai in September 2017.
Situated at a prime location with a scenic backdrop in the heart of Edogawa-ku, the state-of-the-art facility offering 520 seats for students from grades 4 to 12 was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Mr. Tsukasa Akimoto, Vice Minister for Land, Transport and Tourism, Government of Japan and His Excellency Mr. Sujan Chinoy, Ambassador of India to Japan.
Located just three kilometers away from the original 600-seat campus in Nishi Kasai, the new Higashi Kasai campus will offer courses ranging from Cambridge IGCSE, Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) curriculum.
The new campus houses an entire floor offering modern facilities including multifarious labs and activity rooms devoted to information technology, math, science, language, fine and performing arts, music, radio, aerobics, dance, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, India and Japan, speaking on the occasion said, “As Tokyo’s international community continues to expand, so has GIIS’ student body, and we’ve been deeply committed to our Tokyo school since its launch in 2006. The number of students in Tokyo has doubled over the past three years, and we are pleased to be welcoming increasingly more students from Japan, as well as from other countries around the world.”
Other eminent guests at the event also included Mr. Kōtaro Tamura, Member of Global Schools Foundation’s International Advisory Board, Mr. Atul Temurnikar, Chairman and Co-Founder Global Schools Foundation, Mr. Rohit Ambekar, Director - Business & Strategy, Ms. Rajeswary Sambathrajan, Principal GIIS Tokyo, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Vice Principal GIIS Tokyo, and other invited guests, parents and students.
The ceremony began with a ribbon cutting which signified the official opening of the new campus. Later, Mr. Atul Temurnikar presented mementos to the honorable Guests of Honor.
A video showcasing the memorable journey of GIIS Tokyo was shown to the audience members.
The Guests of Honor, His Excellency Mr. Tsukasa Akimoto, His Excellency Mr. Sujan Chinoy and Mr. Kōtaro Tamura, then addressed the audience and commended the growth and development of the school and congratulated the faculty members and the management for the inauguration of the new campus.
The students of GIIS Tokyo Higashi Kasai High School Campus then presented a unique dance fusion that blended and showcased the strong bond of Japan and India. Their performance was much appreciated by the guests and other members of the audience.
The program concluded with the school Principal Ms. Rajeswary Sambathrajan delivering a vote of thanks and His Excellency, Ambassador Mr. Sujan Chinoy joining the management members for a viewing of the new school campus.
