Shun plastic bags say pre-primary students!

Entrepreneurship Bootcamp

We never think twice when asking for a plastic bag at the grocer’s. Nor do we take any heed when we carelessly throw away the kitchen waste wrapped in them. And, even worse is when we give the last night’s leftover to cows and dogs on the roads in plastic bags again and many struggle to eat the food packed tightly, finally giving in and consuming it along with the plastic bag!

Everyday millions of plastic bags and wrappers are dumped in rivers and thrown in garbage. This is massively polluting the rivers and the land as the plastic is non-biodegradable waste which means that it cannot be broken down into its base compounds by micro-organisms, air, moisture or soil in a reasonable amount of time. Thus plastic materials are a threat to our environment and are filling up the landfills, garbage dumps, and rivers every day.

The pre-primary students created awareness and reminded the school staff, parents, and friends that they should shun plastic bags and go for paper bags made from waste paper. The little students pointed out that by using waste paper to make bags will help in recycling of the waste paper. They also made paper bags from old newspapers and presented to the school staff and teachers. The day was dedicated to save our environment by doing away with plastics bag and giving our little contribution towards saving our planet.
