1st February 2014: Global Indian International School (GIIS) Surat, organized its Annual Day celebration, Renaissance.

It was a depiction of the values and thoughts that the school endeavours to imbibe in its students. Through beautifully coordinated dance, music and drama the students touched the hearts of the audience. The role of an institution is towards shaping the minds of the younger generation and making them responsible towards the society.

Pre-primary students, expressed their interest for preservation of green through music and dance on @aps@Jogger@aps@s Park@aps@, @aps@Itnisi hasi@aps@ @aps@Heal the world@aps@, the primary students danced to a parody where they advocated eating of fresh vegetables to remain healthy and the senior students enacted and danced on the concept of eradicating social evils.

Through the cultural programme the students addressed the many social evils of our society. Killing of the girl child was addressed through a heart touching dance, @aps@Orai Chiraiya@aps@. Corruption and the change towards social reforms was further reinstated through an enactment of paying homage to the brave soldiers who lay down their lives at the war front. The programme received standing ovation. Abuse of natural resources like rivers and the importance of keeping them clean was portrayed through a mesmerizing dance, @aps@Nishabd, the mute rivers@aps@, where the girls sprayed water from their hands depicting the flowing rivers as they gracefully swayed to the beat of music. Paying a tribute to Late Narendra Dhabolkar, a musical depicted how spiritual learning can combat black magic. The power of knowledge makes better thinkers and better individuals who can make a difference to the country.

The Annual day celebration was attended by a large number of parents whose children were felicitated for their achievements. GIIS believes that education is not just about academics but about holistic development of an individual. Ms. Pushpy Dutt, Principal, GIIS Surat said, "Annual Day serves as a platform where students get to showcase their talents through theatre, music and splendour. It is our endeavour to spread consciousness towards society and the world at large through artistic manifestation".

The Chief Guest for the annual day was Dr. Kalpana Desai, Dean of SMIMER and Guest of Honour, Tapan Mitra, Director, Pacific Engineering College. They were spellbound by the execution of the theme by the students of GIIS Surat and the over-all impact of the annual day.
