After the mammoth Summer break when students come back to school, the transition is rather difficult. And, sometimes it even takes weeks for children to get acquainted with the new early morning regime, Right?

Well, wrong! GIIS Surat students got back in to the swing of things quite quickly, precisely on the very first day of school! There was enthusiasm, eagerness, happiness, curiosity and that certain vigour after the Summer holidays, all visible in the glint of their eyes. Though, some new students had butterflies in their stomachs and were a little anxious to meet new mates and new teachers, they got accustomed to the school in no time. Because, at GIIS we believe happy students learn better and create a stress-free learning environment that elevates their Happiness Index.

The day began with an assembly where the school principal Mr. Ashok Raj welcomed all the students back to school and told them to focus on their exams after their refreshing Summer vacations. This was followed by a small academic quiz for students to titillate their minds and get them into the study mode with questions like who invented elevators and which planet has the maximum number of moons? Soon, the students were back to their classrooms the enthusiasm still at the peak!

Our pre-primary students were amazed to see their classrooms decorated in colourful hues and eye-catching craftwork by their teachers. They were all playful and cheery with their teachers while narrating in little mumbles their Summer stories. Then, it was time for some learning where our kindergartners were taught three-letter words like hen, jug etc. and revising their lessons.

While, our primary students were overwhelmed to meet their classmates after the long vacations, Grade 10 students, who will be appearing for their board exams this year, had mixed feelings. They were happy to be back at school but anxious to pass their board exams with flying colours. But, the students and teachers both pledged to start preparing for their board exams right from day one. They shared their travel/adventure trips and how they spent the Summer holidays with the teachers before getting back to some serious topics like ‘Holiday Homeworks’!
