Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on 22nd April at GIIS Surat to remind the students of their duties towards ‘Mother Nature.’ As a part of environmental education, "Go- Green" initiative was taken to engage the whole school community in making a difference. Earth Day was celebrated through educational and action-oriented activities that were fun.

Students of Guru Nanak Public School, joined their friends at GIIS to celebrate the power of green by singing mellifluous songs in the morning assembly. GIIS students shared a slideshow with the guest school on nature conservation. Banners and colourful charts were put up, reading "Go Green@aps@@aps@ and "Plant a tree today@aps@@aps@. Children learnt the importance of preserving the planet earth. Students expressed their views by making short speeches in both English and Hindi.

A myriad of activities were conducted in the classes. Colouring activity and competition was conducted for Pre-primary students. Students of classes I and II made paper cut-outs of hands saving the earth. Students of Classes III and IV made beautiful badges of earth. Most prominent was a big earth made by students and the chart work displaying ‘Every Day, Earth Day’.

Special Assembly was conducted in the school auditorium and students took the oath on Earth Day to protect the earth from pollution and abuse. Amrutanjali Swaroop. a student of Class X, delivered an English speech. Mahesh Thakur of Class V recited a beautiful poem in Hindi. This was followed by a speech on ‘Save Earth’ by Jiya Patel of Class VI. Mr. Francis Prasad, Biology Teacher added the finishing touch by addressing the students emphasizing the importance of afforestation, planting of trees and the need for everyone to put together their efforts and get into action, in protecting our environment.
