Global Indian International School believes in holistic development of the students. Debates, competitions and quizzes stimulate the brain and the ability to think quickly, which help children to be equipped for an ever-evolving world of tomorrow.

Taking this thought forward, GIIS Surat has taken an initiative for students from different schools of Surat to participate in an Academic Fiesta to hone their academic skills. They will be participating in three competitions, like English Debate Competition on, Do social networking websites have a place in education?, Maths Quiz and Power Point presentation Competition on, Is humanity destined to self destruction?

Students from 7 neighbouring schools accompanied by their teachers were excited to be a part of this Fiesta. After the preliminary round, three schools were short listed for the final round. Students of GIIS participated in all three categories as hosts. The winner for the Debate Competition was Ms. Sneha Bansal from Podar International School. Maths Quiz was won by Genius School team. Podar International School won the Power Point Presentation competition. Podar International School bagged maximum prizes and was awarded the Colloquium Trophy.

A panel of judges had been invited from various disciplines, comprising of an educationist and an entrepreneur, and also known personalities from the field of engineering and medicine. They are; Dr. Tapan Mitra, Director Pacific Engineering College, Dr. Himmat Baldania, Paediatrician, Ms. Bala Saraswathy Nair, Co-Chairman, Education Committee of South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Ms. Chetana Sultania, Director Devika Silk Mills.

Ms. Pushpy Dutt, Principal GIIS Surat said, Colloquium is a learning fest for students and Global Indian International School will host this Academic Fest every year. We would like to ensure that every child gets an opportunity to showcase his or her academic excellence. This will be a platform for our students to interact and exchange knowledge with students of other schools in Surat. This will help all participating students from across schools to be inter-connected through collaborative learning.
