Annual Cultural and Sports Meet

Annual Cultural and Sports MeetTo celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and promote appreciation of culture and music, Global Indian International School, Surat held its Annual Cultural and Sports Meet on 21/2/2015.

The event was a unique combination of sports and dance that took the audience by surprise.The atmosphere at the campus was charged with energy and cheerleaders waved bright and colourful pompoms as they boosted the morale of their house members.

The programme began with a well-coordinated march-past to the beat of the drums. This was followed by an oath taking ceremony and the Meet was declared open.

With this, the spectators of the show entered a world of excitement and thrill. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Bhavesh Purohit and Guest of Honour, Mr. Chandrasekar Solanki, Senior Coach, Sports Authority of Gujarat graced the occasions and addressed the students.

The school choir enthralled all the guests with a beautiful welcome song. The students of classes I, II and IV presented a captivating sports dance which parents enjoyed thoroughly. The students of class III exhibited their energy through Robot Dance. Students from classes V, VI and VII presented a Fusion Orchestra of melodious chorus songs aided by musical instruments. Students of classes V, VI and VII presented a mesmerizing performance of Kathak Dance.

This was followed by a brilliant performance of Taekwondo. Students exhibited high levels of discipline, concentration and perseverance through their well-rehearsed moves. The audience was in awe when they watched the young Taekwondo Masters gaining high levels of self-confidence and self-esteem. The athletes ran on the tracks and exhibited mastery over running time and gave each house a neck to neck competition.

The students of class IV mesmerized the audience with a well-coordinated drill and a graceful demonstration of pyramid formation synchronized to the rhythm of music.

Garba is a form of dance that originated in the state of Gujarat in India. Students of classes V, VI and VII enthrall the audience with Gujarat’s folk dance Garba. The performances ended with the Torch Dance which was beautifully choreographed.

The Annual Cultural and Sports Meet was the culmination of the hard work and dedication of the students and teachers who had trained them with utmost diligence.
