GIIS Balestier Campus, in collaboration with PUB, organised the @aps@Save the Drop@aps@ Art Competition as part of the GIIS i-Care i-Share programme. Held at the NEWater Visitor Centre on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, the competition was conducted for poster-making and bin design, and was open to all Primary level students in Singapore.
The inaugural @aps@Save the Drop@aps@ Art Competition saw participation from GIIS Queenstown Campus, GIIS East Coast Campus, Marsiling Primary School and GIIS Balestier Campus. Over 25 students came together to compete for top prizes in two categories, as they put on their creative caps to think, ideate and design based on themes of water conservation and sustenance. Singapore@aps@s @aps@Four National Taps@aps@ and @aps@Process of NEWater@aps@ also featured amongst the themes for the competition. The two-hour competition saw students produce unique and creative designs, which are aimed at spreading the message of water conservation.
A special Prize giving ceremony was held at the NEWater Visitor Centre on August 30, 2013. Mr Rajiv Vasudeva, Country Director (Singapore), GIIS, presided as the Guest of Honour at the ceremony. Winners and participants were honoured and appreciated for their remarkable display of creativity and sensitivity towards the need for conservation of water resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vasudeva said, "GIIS is fully inclined with Singapore government@aps@s efforts in raising awareness and implementing practices for resource saving and conservation. The art competition provided a fertile ground for integration between international and local students, bringing them together for a universal cause of concern".
