Singapore’s national Chingay Parade 2014, held IN February, brought forth participation once again from GIIS students. A team of 48 students from Class 8 IGCSE of GIIS Queenstown Campus in association with "Connexion" were a part of “Paint with ONE Heart - Project Batik 360 towards Chingay 2014” a community engagement programme (CEP) project organised for communities and estates to come together and contribute their part on painting the longest ever hand-made Floral Batik Fabric to be presented during the Opening Segment in Chingay Parade. What made this unique was that Singaporeans and New Immigrants painted the floral

batik fabric together creating opportunities for new friendships to be formed through this platform.
Three students from GIIS East Coast Campus also participated in Chingay. Ramapriyan, Rohit Ponkshe and Shreyanth were part of the Indian contingent Varnajalam - Joy Of Colours and formed by the People’s Association Indian Activity Executive Committees (IAECs) and Narpani Pearavai. For young GIIS students it was a great occasion to perform with the community at large in Singapore.
