Dear Parents,

Heartiest Congratulations as your young one takes a leap forward to the next level.

I am sure together you have spent some time going over what was the high point and what could have been better! Ideally this should cover all areas of your child’s development and not just academics.

Behavior and life skills are just as important as academics for your young one. Life is ever changing with technology and environment throwing up new challenges each day. As parents we need to equip our children to be able to multi task and lead a fulfilling life.

Self-Discipline is the key to achieving academic and all round success. From reaching school in time to completing various assignments independently, each milestone is a way forward. However, easy as it sounds, we know it’s not so for some of us. But let me assure you it is not difficult either if we build the right set of values and habits from the beginning.

Another important skill that we need to develop in our children is ability to work in a group. As schools gear up to add collaborative work to the learning process, the parents could pitch in by teaching tolerance and respect for another person’s opinion. Not only will better quality projects come out our children, we will have well–rounded personalities that will help them settle in new environments and work in larger teams in future too.

A lot of help is available on line and it makes perfect sense to adopt self -learning if you can guide your child towards the right content. From Rhymes to Math there is a lots for everyone - some is free but you could also consider subscribing to a few good ones.

Our schools are using “detailed assessment “a powerful tool which tests a child’s conceptual understanding a number of times in an online mode. A simple login to DA from MYGIIS will take you through detailed report on the child’s strengths and weaknesses and giving ideas on working towards what needs to be improved.

So a word from me is sit down with your child - do a simple goal setting exercise and celebrate each goal accomplished as you go along the beautiful journey called education for life.

Wishing you and your ward a very successful year ahead!!!

Warm Regards
