Students of the pre-primary wing of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Noida were taken on a short and informative trip to nearby fire station, in order make them understand the importance of community helpers in our lives. Our tiny tots were briefed by the fire officer on how to contact the fire authorities in case of an emergency by dialling 101.

Children were also educated on the ways that can be used for dousing the fire i.e. covering the area with a blanket, or putting sand over the affected area, etc. A demonstration drill was also conducted to explain the whole process of fire elimination. Lastly, students were made to visit the vehicles firemen used during the state of emergency.

Children, in initial years of development, have different learning abilities. Some learn by seeing, some by doing, some by listening, so and so forth. Based on the learning styles that vary from child to child, there are broadly 3 types of learners:

1. Visual - who learn by observing things around them
2. Auditory - who learn by listening to sounds
3. Kinaesthetic - who learn through physical activities

As per the researchers, major percentage of children are visual learners. They learn by observing visual aids around them. These kind of learners get drawn to everything visual as it helps them in forming a correlation between what is taught and what is visible through their naked eye. Keeping this in mind the field trip was organized. The objective was to enhance visual learning and crisis handling abilities among them.

This outbound trip gave students an idea about what to do and how important it is to use their presence of mind when a crisis situation like this occurs. They also understood the importance of firemen and how difficult it would be if these people are not there to help us when such a need arises.
