The Journey of The Soul; Grades 3-9 students celebrate Annual Day at GIIS Noida

Walk For Rice

The world has opened up like never before in terms of Technology and Scientific enterprise. It has done wonders in the field of communication and minimized the gap for people living all over the world. Technological advancement has pushed us all into an expanded bandwidth but the paradox of our existence is that the more we get virtually connected, the more we drift apart.

Connecting with our loved ones over calls and texts has become more convenient for us, so much that we have forgotten the value of establishing a real-time relationship that lasts longer than virtual connections. Materialism too has got our full attention and energy concentration, distancing us from the true joys of life and the creator of humanity i.e. God.

Global Indian International School (GIIS) Noida, celebrated its 4th Annual Day on February 18, 2017 that also marked its completion of 15 years of excellence in education. The event was graced by Ms. Sunita Jaisingh - National Academic Head, GIIS India along with Mr. Rajeev Katyal – Country Head, GIIS India & Japan and Ms. Aditi Chakraborty – Marcom Head, GIIS India. The theme for this year’s annual celebrations was an interesting amalgamation of spirituality and connection to God i.e. ‘The Journey of the Soul’. Also present at the event was the Chief Guest for the day, Mr. Prashanta Mishra (IAS) - Former Chief Secretary UP Government.

The Journey of the Soul’ was an intent towards awakening the finer sensibilities and sensitivities in search of the higher self. The students unravelled the mystery of essential social and emotional skills through a spiritual journey.  The audience experienced a taste of this voyage as the children celebrated through the most vivid representation through art, music, dance and drama. After the lamp lighting ceremony, the journey towards one’s inner self began with the school band showcasing exemplary instrumental performances on stage, setting the mood oh so pleasant.

The audience was left mesmerized as the primary students put up a relatable show. Each aspect was enacted with extreme poise and grace. Highlighting the problems of a common working man, students of the primary wing left no stone unturned to put forth their message of finding peace within oneself. Humans usually crave for things which they don’t have and can’t achieve, but fail to appreciate what they already have.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajeev Katyal said – “Annual celebrations usually comprise of dances and music. Students of school have put great effort in depicting a situation which requires must anticipation. Amidst the never-ending chase of the materialistic pleasures in life, the common man has forgotten to live a life so pure; this simple yet vital issue was beautifully depicted through our key programs in the annual day called The Journey of the Soul.”

Mr. Prasantha Mishra said - “Children today have so much exposure and opportunities to take an advantage of, which is so unlike what we got at our age. Technology has given them so much but is also depriving them of the real pleasures of life i.e. inner peace, calmness and connection with one’s soul.”
