The Global Colours; Annual Day Galore by Grade 1&2 Students at GIIS Noida

‘The Art of Being Brilliant’

Students of Grade 1 & 2 of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Noida staged a colourful presentation on the 4th Annual Day celebrations happened in the school premises on 17th February, 2017. The theme for this year’s extravagant celebrations was The Global Colours that revolved around Luis Colon who happen to be the great grandson of legendary Christopher Columbus – The Great Traveller.

One fine day Luis is all set to explore the new lands around the world, as a result of an inherited legacy from his great grandfather. On his 21st birthday, he opens his gift and to his surprise finds a talisman which takes him to the extremes of the world. He is also an ex-student of GIIS Singapore who believes in the colours of life and understand its importance for students and individuals in general. As he starts travelling to different countries of the world and begin to experience their culture, food, traditions, rituals, festivities, etc. he comes to believe that no matter how different the cultures, food and people of countries across the world are, something or the other unites everyone irrespective of  colour or religions.

Celebrations began with lighting of the lamp by Mr. Prashanta Mishra (IAS) - Former Chief Secretary UP Government along with Ms. Sunita Jaisingh – National Academic Head, Scholastics GIIS India. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sunita Jaisingh said - “The education system is continuously evolving and the resources play an important role in the curriculum delivery mechanism. We, at GIIS try to ensure that we are able to provide our learners with new-age facilities, multiple options of co-curricular activities that would aid the learning skills and multifaceted growth of our students.

As the curtains unfolded, students from grade 1 & 2 spread magic with their colourful and vibrant performances. The audience was taken on colourful ride to countries like Spain, Japan, USA, India and Africa where different scenarios, festivals and rituals of the countries were represented through colour coordinated scenes and dialogues.

The celebrations ended when Luis Colon came to the GIIS Alumni meet and shared his experience of travelling with the audience.  He came to a conclusion that vibrancy of different colours he witnessed across the world unites people of different countries and regions together. Irrespective of what people do and the religion they follow, human hearts beat together as one.

Ms. Nandita Dasgupta, Principal GIIS Noida while addressing parents said - “Values are important ingredients for the growth of any child. A growing mind needs to be seeded with thoughts that are positive and constructive and have an impact on the individual’s life and that of the society. I am glad to see the program becoming a platform for these thoughts to translate into belief. While understanding of a global culture is a prerequisite for the future generation, it is also important that the inner-mind is also activated towards achieving a higher life state. We, at GIIS are glad to celebrate one more successful year of providing holistic growth for the benefit of our children.”
