Plato once said- “A true sportsman is the one who harmonizes strength and weakness in the interests of harmony and order”. Sports people are the ones who look for balance and create harmony where ever they go. Being a sportsman allows a person to imbibe a distinctive characteristic known as sportsmanship, which makes them calm, balanced and considerate towards life and other people.

Promoting Sports, Health and Fitness Excellence at all times, students at GIIS Noida are always encouraged to take part in some kind of physical or sport activity. Participating in various sports and extra-curricular events have not only shaped up their personalities, but have also helped them become competitive, just and fair in all conditions of life. One such example of a true sportsman is Arushi Chandel, the rising Badminton Star of GIIS Noida.

Aarushi a student of class VIII-A at GIIS Noida started playing badminton at the age of 11 in Canada. When her family returned to India, she started her professional training, devoting 4 to 5 hours of practice a day. She has participated in several District, State and National level tournaments, achieving 3^rd position in district level tournament and also winning a Gold Medal at the Inter School District Badminton Championship.

In January, 2016 she got an opportunity to be a part of ‘Premier Badminton League’ for Delhi Acers. This brought her in close contact with international players of repute like Saina Nehwal, Tommy Sugiyato, Jwala Gutta, Lee Ching Wee, and many others. She has got inspired by these players and her resolve to work hard and represent India one day has become stronger.
