Scholastic Book Fair and Author Rendezvous at GIIS Noida

Scholastic India is an organization that aims at providing reading and learning opportunities to children of the country, so that they can cultivate their minds towards utmost capacity and enrichment. Their aim is to offer best of the books and other learning materials by select local and international publishers to the youth of the country and inspire them to read, live and play through its print, audio, television, films and digital applications.

With an objective of inculcating reading habits among children, and to give them access to age specific learning materials, Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida conducted a book fair in association with Scholastic India. Students from grades 1-10 were a part of this book fair where they got access to pick and choose different kinds of books as per their choice. Each grade had a different section of books to select from and each student got an opportunity to own the books they had been wish-listing for.

Various prizes were distributed to students and a lucky draw was also conducted to provide students with books of different genres, free of cost. The class who had purchased the highest number of books got a certificate and best class award along with free books to access and read in the class school library.

As a part of the ongoing book fair, an author rendezvous was organized for grade 6-10 students. Ms. Vaijayanti Savant Tope, who is among the most loved and respected authors of Scholastic India took an interactive session with our students to make them understand about the value and benefits of reading on daily basis. Ms. Tope is a well-known name in the world of fiction and non-fiction story books and novels for children. The session conducted aimed at motivating students to engage themselves into reading and making it a part of their routine, as it gives one a much needed happiness, makes one laugh and cry besides increasing your knowledge and argumentativeness.

Ms. Vaijayanti shared her reading and writing experiences with our students and her story of getting inspired by a writer who motivated her to become one with a lot more potential and fame. She ended the session on a positive note by motivating the students to start reading and writing about small things around them, as it will give direction and meaning to their purpose.

The book fair concluded with a parent engagement activity where students of the school bought their favourite books under their parents’ guidance.
