“A great teacher shows you the way, but never tells you what to look at”
Indian culture has always valued the role of a teacher in one’s life, to the extent, that it is said “acharya devo bhava” implying that teacher is godlike. In honor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second president and a great teacher who was born on September 5, youth of the country pays a special tribute to their gurus on this day.
As a beautiful compliment to all the GIIS teachers and mentors, GIIS Noida’s young champions organized a great show on September 5, 2017 dedicated to their teachers. Teacher’s day celebrations commemorated with absolute joy and enthusiasm. Students of grade 10 planned a special assembly dedicated to their lovely teachers and staff. Nehal Kaul – Head Girl, Global Indian International School (GIIS) Noida along with Ronit – Head Boy, GIIS Noida took the honor of welcoming teachers to the celebration conducted by students of grades 8, 9 and 10.
The occasion began by invoking God’s blessing through a prayer song (Showers of Blessing) and Guru Vandana. The assembly was commenced with highlighting the beauty of a teacher and the significant role they plays in children’s lives. The excitement continued as the cultural secretary of the school, Archit, of grade 9, performed a breathtaking fusion dance. The dance performance was followed by a sweet song sung by grade 8 girls, to express heartfelt gratitude for their teachers.
It was a fun day for teachers as they sang inspirational songs for their students. An overwhelming series of pictures, showing memories of teachers with students, was beautifully displayed for the teachers in a video that took everyone’s heart. Ms. Sunita Jaisingh - National Academic Head, GIIS India addressed the students where she emphasized on the essence of the day being celebrated along with the role a Guru plays in transforming lives of its pupils.
The principal of the school, Ms. Vandana Midha, took over to express her happiness and immense pride in her students, and encouraged them to further strengthen the values of a great student instilled in them. The show was concluded with the National Anthem.
