Prefectorial Board of GIIS Noida takes oath; Investiture Ceremony 2017-18

Class 2A- Class Name- Bakti- activity

Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida, celebrated Investiture Ceremony on Friday, 1st September, 2017 to mark appointment of the next student council of the school. The event was graced by Mr. Gurcharan Singh who has been a former coach to many international cricketers like Mr. Kapil Dev, and founder of Dronacharya Cricket Academy. Accompanying him was Mr. N.P Singh – President, Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations, and was the man behind abolishment of DND Drive Toll fares in New Delhi.

With a lot of pride and dignity, the day commenced with lighting of the sacred lamp and the recital of the “Sarvardharam Prathna” by the school choir. The event started with members of the elected council marching forward on call by Ms. Vandana Midha – Principal, GIIS Noida as official bearers of the school Prefectorial board.  Mr. Rajeev Katyal – Country Director, GIIS India & Japan and Ms. Sunita Jaisingh – National Head Academics, GIIS India were also present to urge the newly elected council to do full justice to their duties both in principle and action.

At its state-of-the art multi-purpose hall, students of the school council were given rolls of honour and badges of school/house captains and prefects. Among the presence of such esteemed personalities and around 500 parents, each member of the school council was inspired to become not just great school leaders but also the value bearers of our rich culture and heritage. Under the guidance of the school Principal Ms. Vandana Midha, each member of the elected council took the oath to serve for the school welfare with utmost devotion and responsibility.

Apart from honouring the school council for the current academic session, previous year’s academic scholars (grade 3 onwards) were also felicitated with certificates and badges. Subject wise toppers, class wise toppers, and students who had shown significant improvement in academics over the previous year were felicitated with certificates, badges and books.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gurcharan Singh said – “the school principal and teachers are the best people to judge budding talents. They have an eye that can recognize potential calibres and polish them to become diamonds of great value. Each child is unique and has qualities that make them stand apart the crowd. And, not everyone is a born scholar or sportsman. They are created with the unconditional support of school teachers, principal and the management working in that direction altogether. So, parents shouldn’t compare their child with others and burden them with unnecessary things. ”

Commenting further, Mr. N.P Singh said – “school is the next home for a child. Teachers and the principal are the second parents a child come to after leaving for school in the morning. Schools like GIIS Noida have made education retain its meaning by deeply inculcating principles and Indian values to keep the children grounded and rooted.” Ending on a positive note he further added – “a Guru (teacher) is like a potter, they carve the best of personalities with their love and care, and make children capable of facing the world with humbleness and positivity.”

Coming towards the closure of the ceremony, the glorious grand finale was worth the watch for everyone present there. Winners with sparkling eyes walked with victorious waving hands. With dreams in their eyes and the world in their fist, each student who had won took immense pride in making their teachers and parents proud with their academic accomplishments. The event concluded with Mr. Gurcharan Singh giving some on-field cricketing tips to our budding cricketers of the Chandu Borde Global Cricket Academy (CGBCA).
