Noida Campus comes Alive with Pre-Primary 4th Annual Sports Day

Indo-Thai Fun Fair

The essence of true sportsmanship lies in the virtue of playing the game whole heartedly, without the desire of winning or losing. A simple fact that makes a sportsman different from a common man is the way he/she perceives life.  Sports, after all, is all about the skill and spirit it’s played with.

Celebrating our fourth Annual Sports meet this year, Global Indian International School Noida organized the pre-primary sports day on 16th December, 2016 in the school premises. Keeping the tradition alive, this year too, the celebration spirit was at its flamboyant best. After giving a warm welcome to all the parents, Ms. Nandita Dasgupta (Principal) and Ms. Aditi Chakraborty (Head – Marketing) declared the meet open, as blue and white balloons flew high in the sky.

Not going with the customary rituals, Pre-Nursery and Nursery students presented a beautiful drill and tambourine dance one after the other. Showing a way towards healthy life and peaceful mind, KG children performed a yoga drill like experts. Not to forget, the effort put in by our tiny tots in elaborating each posture was highly commendable.

Moving onto the actual sports part of the day, races for pre-nursery and nursery began with Jalebi Race, where each one from pre-nursery had to eat their jalebi and run to complete the wrap. Many interesting and exciting races like Dakiya (Postman) Relay, Lagori race (sack the marbles or pithoo race), Khul ja sim sim, Matki race, Jallikattu race, etc. were organized, different race for each section.  Since the theme for this year’s sports day was childhood Indigenous games, each game was taken up from our childhood times and designed to bring back the long lost childhood fun we all use to have.

As the day moved towards its closure, how could parents leave without playing with the same sportsman spirit as their children. Parents voluntarily were invited to come in pairs and participate in a special race, collated just for them. It was fun to see each parent participating enthusiastically, just for creating a special memory for their child to cherish for years. Little munchkins of GIIS Noida, on the other hand cheered for their parents; making the participation feeling even more ecstatic.

Lastly, after the prize distribution ceremony Ms. Nandita Dasgupta took an opportunity to explain her happiness as she witnessed school’s little munchkins performing brilliantly in the meet. She even thanked parents for taking out time to witness children put up a spectacular show for them.
