GIIS Noida win accolades at the INTACH FILMIT Festival

Global Excellence Day

The culmination of FILMIT programme in collaboration with INTACH organisation was a fruitful and enriching experience for students of classes 6th-9th. A special ceremony was organised by INTACH to acknowledge the efforts and creativity of students where the movies made by students across 30 schools of INTACH Delhi Chapter were showcased.

The Chief Guest for the event was an internationally acclaimed Film Maker and Producer, Mr. Nila Madhab Panda. Mr. Panda has produced and directed over 70 diverse and cutting edge Films, documentaries and shorts. His films have been known as a powerful medium directed towards positive change. His first iconic feature film, the highly acclaimed ‘I am Kalam’ won 32 International awards, and one national award. His second feature film “Jalpari”, about female feticide and gender equality, was also well received by audience. It received the prestigious, MIP Junior award at “Cannes”.

Students of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Noida made 5 movies on heritage of India under this programme. The topics given to students were based on dying profession, heritage sports and historical monuments. Taking inspiration from real life scenarios and disparities of humans, a team of students from the school made three movies named Naai – The Roadside Barber, Gilli Danda, and a historical movie on the monuments at Mehrauli Archaeological Park and the Royal Tank of Hauz Khas.

Since the competition judged the projects on various rubrics like theme, direction, storyline, cinematography, background music, etc., choosing of winners became quite difficult for the judges. After assessing on a series of benchmarks, winners for the competition were declared and felicitated with certificates and informative books.

Our team of budding film-makers were awarded with accolades for showcasing exceptional skills in movie making. They bagged three prices under different categories namely:

  1. Best Direction for “Naai – The Roadside Barber
  2. Best Cinematography for “Gilli Danda
  3. Best Background Score for “Gilli Danda

The FILMIT initiative taken up by INTACH and its officials was successful in unleashing a creative bent in students, and provided them with a new platform to widen their career horizon. Our students got a chance to learn so much during the entire process which definitely will benefit them in some way or other in future.
