GIIS Noida Students Participate in the Heritage Competition Organized By INTACH

Students of GIIS, Noida went to the INTACH headquarters in New Delhi to participate in the All India Essay and Painting Competition on the theme - “MY CITY MY HERITAGE”. This competition was organized by the Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) division of INTACH, for school students of classes 6 to 9, to commemorate Heritage Week.

Numerous schools all over Delhi Ncr participated in the event. Students came along with teachers to mark their respect towards the heritage of our country. Three students from GIIS Noida namely Soumya Chattopadhyaya (Grade 6), Adwitiya Singh (Grade 7), and Akshaya Kashyap (Grade 8) participated in the competition, which was to write meaningful essays and support their information with a painting/illustration.

To begin with, Ms. Purnima Dutt (Principal Director, Heritage Education and Communication Service, INTACH) welcomed the audience and explained the rules of the competition, after which two short film on INTACH and Heritage was shown to the audience gathered.

Global Indian International School Students choose Okhla Bird Sanctuary as their topic for the competition. All of them explained in depth about how birds were getting affected by the pollution caused by the Yamuna River, and the adverse effects the same pollution is causing to the atmosphere of our planet. To support their argument, students made beautiful pictures of the species found in the Okhla Bird Sanctuary situated at Noida.

While the students were busy participating, all the teachers present were escorted to the Conservation Lab where they interacted with a team of experts, who educated them about the how the conservation process takes place. For example, teachers got to know about the fact that numerous clients approach INTACH for restoration of their heritage sites across countries.

All in all, it was an amazing experience to witness different paintings, bronze sculptures and Enormous deer heads getting restored at the INTACH conservation Lab. Students had an amazing experience too, as meeting and interacting with participants from so many schools provided them with immense knowledge and exposure to the heritage our country holds.
