The first session on Aero Modeling and Gliders was held at GIIS Noida and GIIS Surat campuses on 26th April, 2013.

The students were introduced to the history of gliders. They were fascinated with the evolution of this flying machine. Every student was then given a take-away kit and they assembled their very own machine upon the instructions of the trainer. This do-it yourself kit helped them concentrate better and apply their logical mind to the sequencing of each part. Robotics lends itself to the applied, real-life problems found in project-based tasks. The students studied parts of the airplane or glider and understood their functions. The next level of the project was to make their planes work. The students learned to balance the glider by attaching nose-weight in the form of bolts. Then comes the final joy of flying their planes and gliders.

Learning becomes enjoyable when there is excitement and fun. Robotics class at GIIS provided self-directed, challenge-based learning rather than simply absorbing and regurgitating facts. There were no winners or losers in the activity. All groups have the opportunity to improve their designs and knowledge.
