Freedom from negativity, war, and stress; GIIS Noida celebrates 71st Independence Day

book

Independence is not about remembering that we are Indians twice in a year. Nor it’s about feeling patriotic occasionally. Independence is all about being able to do what you want to, at your own pace, with your own choice. Independence is the ability to take your own decisions and feeling responsible for them.

Bringing out the importance and value of being an independent country, and to sensitize students about the history on how we became free from the British raj, primary and pre-primary wing of GIIS Noida celebrated the 71st Independence Day with absolute patriotism and feelings.

 Pre-primary

Tiny Tots of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Noida were all decked up to celebrate Janamashtmi and Independence Day in the special assembly conducted.

Lord Krishna is a symbol of victory of good over evil and is a true picture of light in the darkness. He has played an instrumental role in helping Arujna during the Mahabharta, so that justice could prevail under all circumstances.

Beginning with the celebrations, birth of lord Krishna was celebrated with great excitement and gaiety. Students paid a tribute to the lord of wisdom by showcasing various activities like dance, skit, and sharing his teachings with the audience. Nursery students took the audience by surprise as they danced on a beautiful song that depicted his childhood and early years in Gokul, which is the birth place of Krishna.

Moving to the celebrations of Independence Day, paying a heartfelt tribute to the freedom fighters of our country, KG students gave a scintillating dance performance on “Maa Tujhe Salam”. Dressed up in colours of our national flag, tiny tots of our campus danced like true patriots of the country. Even they could feel that patriotic vibe which was in the air throughout.

 Primary

Grades 3-10 of GIIS Noida celebrated Independence Day with complete enthusiasm and expressions of freedom. The celebrations began with students sharing thoughts by eminent leaders, to bring forth the importance of being a true independent country. An informative ppt was also shared with the audience to highlight the efforts our freedom fighters did to free India from atrocities of the Britishers.

An inter-house patriotic competition was also organized for students of grade 3-5 after the information sharing session. Each house had to present a tribute to the freedom we attained after so many years of continuous struggle. Students were judged on rubrics like dress code, use of props, ability to sing together as a team, ability to sing at the same pitch, etc.  After lots of mind boggling discussions the result of the inter-house competition was announced. House Hibiscus got the first prize, followed by Chrysanthemum and Orchid obtaining 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Vandana Midha – Principal, GIIS Noida said – “being independent is not about leading a modern life. It is about keeping the essence of our traditions alive and intact. This Independence Day try to love yourself, and people around you, and if you can do that easily, it means you are truly independent in all respects.”

We have attained freedom with many sacrifices by our leaders and freedom fighters who have fought for the country to free it from the clutches of British rulers. Let’s put our heart and soul in preserving what we got after so much of struggle and bloodshed, and preserve it while taking our country and its name to greater heights.
