EXPISCOR - Annual Exhibition by Hobby Clubs of GIIS Noida

Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida organized The EXPISCOR - an annual exhibition in collaboration with the hobby clubs of the school. The school has seven hobby clubs in various disciplines that are aimed at connecting the youth of today with number of possibilities that help them identify their area of interest and encourage them to think out of the box and empower them with skills that help them achieve quality like work management, team play, leadership, etc.

The annual exhibition was held at a grand level were parents of the students from Grades 3-5 were invited to visit the campus and go through the work each student of various clubs have done over the academic year. Lets’ have a look what various clubs had to offer:

1. Aryabhata or the Maths Club

Students of the maths club exhibited handmade models and puzzles to the visiting parents and the staff of the school. Different areas of room had different corners set up to display the work done by school students. Parents got a chance to observe and understand working of the models displayed and play games students had made during their academic session.

2. Innovation & Robotics Club (STEM)

The annual exhibition was aimed at encouraging and inculcating a scientific bend of the subject among the club students. Various projects were displayed with working model on Magnetism, LED working model, Eclipse, Shadow, Balloon car/rocket, etc.

3. Cooking Without Fire

Cooking without fire club students exhibited their culinary skills and prepared delicious items for the exhibition which they sold at a nominal prices. They made mouth-watering snacks like Macaroni salad, Chana jorgaram chaat and Lemonade apart from displaying food of different states, herbs found in India and there benefits, food Pyramid on different stalls. It was feast for the eyes and stomach as well. Children coined very interesting and creative titles for their dishes and presented them in an artistic and aesthetic style.

4. Literary Club

The Exhibition area was full of models, charts, games and enactments. Many fun games based on grammar and vocabulary were presented along with the activities based on practical understanding. There were grammar and writing skill based projects and working models displayed too. As a part of the speaking skill enhancer techniques, tongue twisters, both in Hindi and in English were also introduced and were thoroughly enjoyed. There was a “Word Game” that had a dice to be rolled while parents had to make plural, change the gender etc. of the word shown.

5. Dharohar Club

The lighting of perfumed incense sticks, terracotta pots on mitti chulha, katha work saree on display, wonderful movies made by FilmIT team running in background, beautiful rangoli motifs carved on ground and students dressed in traditional attire welcoming parents by putting a tilak on forehead and wishing ‘Ghanni Khamma’ set the aura for Dharohar club exhibition giving it a complete authentic touch to capture everyone’s heart and attention. There were 5 themes on display where the work done by students as per the theme was showed section wise.

6. Techfest by IT club

The theme of the exhibition was introduced to the visitors by the club students and the work done by the IT Club students was showcased in form of hardcopies as well as softcopies using different computer systems; these included different projects based on different application softwares like : Story board in Tux Paint, Presentation on different generations of computer & festivals in PowerPoint, etc. Desktop models along with CPU and various input/output devices and models to show the concept of networking in Wi-Fi technology was also put up.

7. Eco- Club

Various eco-friendly items were made like:- Paper mesh baskets(recycling of paper), baskets made by reusing old newspapers by turning them into paper sticks, formation of starch clay and jewellery out of clay using wheat flour, etc. A stall was set up to create awareness about home remedies that can be performed for various ailments using regular spices available in one’s kitchen.
