Childhood is a time of learning and exploring new things. But this desire of knowing everything can sometimes cause serious danger for children as they play outside their homes on streets or parks near traffic areas. Children tend to get hurt or pick up injuries on driveways with very less or no knowledge about the safety rules to be followed while being on road.

To educate students of Grades 2 and 3, BMW in association with IL&FS conducted two day workshop at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida to generate awareness about safe driving and road behavior. Since the efforts to improve road safety have been undermined over the years, the need of educating children about road safety measures has occupied the top priority.

The two day workshop conducted included a theoretical and video presentation of traffic rules and regulations that must be followed while crossing the road and facing traffic. Students were shown an animated video on the concept based on which they were questioned and rewarded with books sponsored by BMW. In addition to the workshop, a live traffic SIMULATION MODEL was set up in the school playground to make them aware about the traffic rules and regulations.

The objective behind conducting this workshop was to empower students with the right knowledge, skills and attitude which further transforms them into responsible citizens who take full ownership of their behavior on road.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sunita Jaisingh - National Head, Academics said “ the purpose of tying up with an organization like BMW is to expose our students to experience latest simulations which help them understand and retain traffic signal rules and do’s and don’ts of being on road. Such programmes not only increase their knowledge about road safety but also make them responsible citizens of tomorrow.
