GIIS KL - SECONDARY PROJECT DAY

Global Lit Fest

Global Indian International School (GIIS) Project day was held in October 2017. Project day is a platform for the students to showcase their talents and  creativity. The Secondary students came up with original and innovative projects. Each Department witnessed students put up innovative and meaningful projects.

The English Department   stood out, putting together the efforts of all the classes , the department truly provided a spectacular sight for all the parents. All sections of Std 6 came up with charts on their views on An Ideal Classroom whereas all the  7th graders put across their thoughts   about Friendship on the charts and posters. The students of Std 8 and 9 set up a puppet show spreading awareness against bullying in school which truly served it's purpose. There was also a parody of the Pirates of the Carribeain enacted by students of Std 8, 9 & 11. The most fascinating feat of all was that all decorations and preparations  truly displayed  a sea of creativity.

The limits of one's language is The limit of his or her world, language promotes communication and unites the world. The students of the language Department show cased their talents in form of models. Students displayed their linguistic skills by interpreting & explaining their work to parents in multiple languages such as Bahasa Malay, French, Hindi, Sanskrit and Tamil. The parents and the students had a great time experiencing the multi-cultural atmosphere with games conducted to win a chance to taste a variety of cuisines. The highlight of the show was the photo booth.

The department of Social Science put into practical use, knowledge, information gleaned from books and class room lessons in, history, geography political science and economics. The students prepared various prototypical models like the seven wonders of the world , World War II,  The Parliament and The Constitution of  India. The students also had models that depict land terrains like the Primitive farming & Commercial farming, Samoan islands, Extraction of minerals, natural vegetation. The circle of illumination was explained with enthusiasm, the parents had a great time writing the answers to the circle of illumination quiz and ofcource winning a prize.

The theme taken up by the Department of Science was ‘Go Green’ and ‘Application of Science for the future’. The students of the science department not only showcased projects promoting green environment but also displayed and created working models in the field of Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The students created models such as claw machine, roller coaster, solar oven, motor boat to name a few. In line with our theme there was a green corner with beautiful flowering plants grown by the students, eco house with recycle bottle to compress the air to change hot air to cool air. Students demonstrated how to manage natural resources with the help of Rainwater harvesting model. The students of Chemistry demonstrated chemical tests to identify adulterants used in food products consumed everyday such as chilli powder, turmeric, milk, oil, pepper etc. There games and activities for the parents to enjoys based on theoretical concepts such as the NEET surgeon test, Morse code, slime preparation, Elephant toothpaste and chemical chameleon. The Maths and IT departments showcased a variety of interesting projects and games which helped the students to strengthen their thinking and analytical skills.  This helped students in research and assessment of their own capabilities and trained students to work in a co-operative environment.  Parents interacted with the students who explained about the various projects and activities that were on display with confidence. The students  had working and static models like Finding the area of a circle, Triangle and its properties, Geometry city, Area of a circle, Identities, Pythagoras theorem, Lego NXT Robotics, Working of the internet, Demonstration of music editing using Audacity, Website using Dream Weaver, Hologram, Network Topology etc which utilized all the space in the classroom. 

Co-Scholastic department  teachers helped in making all department rooms as attractive as possible.

Overall the Project day was a huge success. Kudos to the students and teachers!
