The Kindergarten Team of Global Indian International School (GIIS) KL were very happy to have Ms. Kavitha Soundrarajan present a talk on The Importance of Play in Early Childhood. This talk was planned in conjunction with the KG Father’s Day - Father & Child photo competition. Ms.Kavitha shared some important key points on the importance of play in early childhood.

Parents participated in the discussions and were very happy with the whole presentation.

Apart from this, the Kindergarten team also conducted a Phonics Workshop on the same day. Parents were presented with a Phonics Workshop which served to help them understand the methodology used in the GIIS Kindergarten to teach their children.

This session was planned as part of the GIIS Kindergartens efforts to cultivate a three way partnership between Parent – Child – Teacher. The Kindergarten Department voiced its strong believe in working to give the best in education for the children, parents too play an important role in reinforcing what the child has learnt in school.

The session was an interactive session where parent took some time to “go back to school” and learn the wonderful phonics system. Parents were guided through letters A- Z, learning the correct phonetic sounds and also were ‘taught’ the correct way to write the letters.

It was a light moment went Ms.Yamuna and Ms.Punitha quizzed the parents on the sounds and parents very readily participated. Parents were also “taught” the ways to blend and read three letter words.

Handouts with information on the phonics system were given out to the parents. The event ended with parents requesting for more such events in the future and many extended their appreciation to the Kindergarten Team and management for conducting the Phonics workshop which was very useful to the new parents.
