Celebrating 10 years of Excellence

The Secondary Annual day was held in July 2016, to celebrate 10 years of excellence. The theme for the Annual day was ‘Celebration’. The secondary students set the stage ablaze with their power packed performances.

The event was presided by Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu and Dr A.T Kumararajah. They were escorted by Mr. Manoj Nair – Director Global Indian International School Malaysia, Ms. Bhuvaneshwari Veeraraghavan and Mr. Bitto Siani. They were felicitated by the Head of the Student council – Keshav Binoy and Vice captain – Veena. Students were awarded for their academic performance as well as for 100% attendance. Teachers were appreciated during the awards ceremony.

The cultural evening, opened with a peppy number from The Land of five rivers - Punjab. The Annual day performances took the audience on a way faring adventure across the globe. The dance performances included energetic Cowboy and Line dance, graceful dances from The land of the Thunder Dragon -China, and warrior dance from Japan - The land of the rising sun -. The dance performances included spectacular costumes and props, as displayed in the Flamenco, fusion, UAE, Thai, Vietnam dance. The Sojourn also took us to Incredible India.

‘The mysterious case of the missing ring’ was a play written and directed by Miss Mahalakshmi which brought in a comic element with the Queen taking a fun trip across the globe and meeting superstars from Bollywood (Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh khan) and Kollywood (Superstar Rajanikanth).We also met James Bond from England, Jackie Chan from China and Samurai warrior’s from Japan.

The musical performances included instrumental fusion and popular songs such as ‘Gone gone gone’ and ‘Stand by you’,the melodious song ‘’Mirae”. A delightful surprise for the evening was the performance by Mr. Kingsley alongside the Chinese choir Xi Ai De Ren.

The Annual day concluded with a beautiful performance reflecting ‘One Malaysia’. The students performed a Medley number of popular Malay folk songs. The ‘One Malaysia’ dance included a collaboration of Malay, Chinese and Bharatanatyam dance styles. The finale was a fun performance including all the students led by the choreographer Mr. Prakash.

Overall the Annual day was the result of hard work and enthusiasm displayed by the students and the teachers. It was wonderful to embark on this globe-trotting adventure. Cheers..... to the Secondary Team for the excellent team work!!!
