At Global Indian International School Indore, Charity begins from School. Students and teachers of GIIS Indore have been keeping busy over the last few weeks in collecting woollen clothes, toys and other essential items for sharing with the underprivileged.

“Donate Warmth” - an initiative taken up by the school authorities to help homeless and vulnerable people across various slums of Indore, students of GIIS Indore thought of making their Christmas special.  Parents, students, staff members and teachers were extremely generous in donating new clothes, toys, packed eateries, etc. for different age groups.

On 23rd December, 2016, school students along with Ms. Seema Patel and Mr. Arpit Vaidya visited a slum area near Chandan Nagar, Indore to distribute the Joy boxes to its residents. Students, very actively had been an integral part of this initiative taken up by the school authorities. A lot of students voluntarily helped teachers in collating and packing of the Joy boxes. They all were extremely happy to be able to help the needy, especially on the occasion of Christmas, which is what the festival is all about.

Arpit Vaidya – Academic Coordinator, had been a constant companion of students during the preparation and collection process of the useful items for the needy. Sharing his happiness on the same, he said, “It’s been great to get children involved in the process. They got a chance to learn about different kinds of items that people need such as warm clothes, etc., apart from learning about the importance of sharing and being kind to others, particularly during this time of year.”

The objective behind becoming a Santa for the less privileged was to make our students understand the duties towards the weaker sections of our society, and how small things like sharing books, clothes, food, etc. can help them grow in life. Speaking about the same, one of our students from grade IX, Bhupesh shared his happiness on the contribution GIIS Indore made to their lives. He quoted “it’s only during Christmas when we share this gesture of goodwill to ensures that all of us can come together to share gifts and celebrate”.

GIIS Indore as a school of international repute believes in providing opportunities to the less privileged section of the society. We continuously seek opportunities/occasions to help the needy, so that they can also feel special, regardless of their circumstances and wellbeing.
