GMPMs. Maria Montessori said “to talk is in the nature of man”, meaning human beings need to communicate with one another for better understanding of symbols, pictures and expressions. Global Montessori Plus is a stress-free learning pedagogy for pre-primary students that accelerate reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

5 pillars of learning being an integral part of Montessori Method, ‘Montessori Week’ provided a focused workshop for revising the various pillars of learning and Language Skills being an important pillar was well received by the students. To ensure that children imbibe a positive attitude towards learning, innovative lesson plans were implemented to develop qualities of self-discipline and motivation.

Students were taught phonetic sounds and the use of those sounds for forming simple three letter words (pink scheme). Following the pink scheme, blue scheme was introduced where the students learned formation of four to five letter words, eventually becoming able to learn different word families (Green Scheme) altogether. Speech development, sentence structuring and writing was an integral part of the activity conducted.

Funny and Laughter day; a fun filled activity day was also conducted for the little GIISians at the school campus. Children and even teachers were dressed as common cartoon characters like Charlie Chaplin, Mickey Mouse, Doraemon, etc. The whole idea was to make the tiny tots expressive and conversant by sharing funny jokes and riddle with their friends and class teachers in English. GIIS Indore believes that students should be capable of speaking, understanding and writing at least two languages fluently. Supporting this thought, Hindi Kavita and Doha recitation competition was conducted for students of Kindergarten. Purpose behind conducting such an activity was to motive children to learn and understand our national language Hindi. Not only did children recite poems and Dohas in Hindi, but also depicted a whole lot of comfort and ease while speaking the language.

Our students won prizes in various events of rhyme recitation, show-and-tell and fancy dress competitions.

Book week was celebrated to demonstrate the importance of reading and speaking in life. Parents were invited along with their wards, to participate in storytelling and dramatizing of little stories made. This week was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids. They got a chance to understand value books add to our life. Moreover, children were encouraged to read, express and use their imaginative powers to create a story and narrate in their own words. This gave a fair picture about every student’s grasp of the language basics and skills.

Regular digital classroom sessions were also conducted to teach students about the words, phonetics and sentence formation practically. Digital smartboards and videos were used to demonstrate formation of simple words, sounds and names of things. Children could relate to the audio visual rhymes which taught them about various parts of a language.
