Yoga Day

Yoga is not a religion, it is a way of living with an aim of achieving healthy mind with a healthy body. It’s a way of balancing human’s physical, mental and spiritual development. Yoga is an integral part our ancient Indian cultural heritage and existence, and is a souvenir of holistic health and well-being to our species. Paying tribute to the ancient Indian science of exercise and healing, GIIS Indore celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and participation.

Yoga DayThe celebrations started as early as 6:45 am on 21st June, in the school premises. Huge turnout of parents, students and school teachers was witnessed, unleashing their energies into the yogic asanas of spirituality and healing. The programme commenced with singing Vande Matram, followed by a brief introduction to the world of Yoga and its significance, given by Mr. Dinesh Patel.

Dr. (Capt.) Dinisha Bhardwaj (Principal, Noida) encouraged everybody to take an oath before starting with their yogic journey. Following the oath taking ceremony, Mr. Dinesh Patel and his team took over the stage to demonstrate various Yog asanas and their benefits in our daily life. Each and every participant present during the celebration was motivated to indulge in a warm up session, preparing their body for advanced postures and techniques. Observing all the students, teachers and parents performing the asans as per the directions given was a delightful experience to witness.

Participants were engaged in performing Yoga asans like Surya Namaskar, Vajraasana, Pranayaam, Chakraasana, etc. Concluding the ceremony, Principal of the school, Dr. (Capt.) Dinisha Bhardwaj shared the benefits of Yoga and its positive effect on one’s life, and how doing it regularly can help us live a better, illness free life.

It was indeed an enriching session for all the participants present as it not only helped them in stabilizing their mental strength, but also helped them with increasing their concentrative abilities to a great extent.
