“Sports create a character, making an individual stand out of the crowd” - This is the approach students of GIIS Indore religiously follow.
Sports and games are virtues that have many followers from all age groups. Be its students, youth or even senior citizens, each individual has a favourite of his/her own. Understanding this need and importance of sports in our lives, GIIS Indore has constantly been encouraging its students to perform well in sports and extracurricular activities.
Proving this motivational approach is the recent achievement students of GIIS Indore got at the Maharashtra State Rural Games Championship 2016-17 held on 23rd and 24th April. Three Students from Class V to IX participated in the event and bagged 2 gold and 1 silver medals under the Karate Kumite Fight Demonstration Championship. The lucky GIISians were: Vedant Upadhyay of class V (Gold medal), Moksh Patel of class V (Silver Medal), and M. Farhan Gori of Class IX (Gold Medal).
Under the Indian Round Archery Demonstration Championship category three students from classes V-IX participated and won one bronze medal each to their credit. M. Abdul Hamid Khan of grade VIII, Rishab Dhadwad of grade IX, and Jayesh Soni from grade IX were the ones who made GIIS Indore proud.
All the six champs who represented GIIS Indore had a great time playing and giving a tough fight to all the other opponents present from 25 Districts and 5 states of India. This event not only helped our rising stars in acquiring great amount of knowledge of their relative sport, but also helped them in performing exceptionally well as they showcased true colours of sportsmanship during their matches against numerous schools present.
Participating students even got a chance to interact with other coaches present increasing their knowledge of the sport played. Not to forget the efforts and hard work of Mr. Rahul Kokate who trained our students to perfection, in likes of the sport for months, making them confident enough to play the game and win it bang on.
