Change must begin from self; GIIS Indore celebrates Entrepreneurship Week

UAE Week - 2022

Celebrating global events play a key role in developing leaders and change-makers of tomorrow. Whilst helping young minds to develop essential life-skills (such as communication, teamwork and leadership), and generate extra funds for the betterment of school and the society, these events aim at making the youth of the country understand their role i.e. their part in something bigger and better – a global movement.

To encourage our students and their entrepreneurial skills, Global Entrepreneurship week was celebrated at GIIS Indore in association with “Teach A Man to Fish” educational charity organization. The School Enterprise Challenge is a global business planning award programme run by the above mentioned educational charity group to create globally aware, socially responsible young entrepreneurs around the world.

GIIS Indore took up this initiative in the year 2016 with a campaign named “ECO CARE- KNOW ME KNOW LIFE, NO ME NO LIFE” in which two team ( having 40 students each) from the school came up with a unique business plan of their own and carried functions of all its departments like experienced professionals. Students managed the planning, market survey, finance, designing, manufacturing, and costing part all by themselves and made some great things to sell at the annual PTM. The highlight for the last year’s enterprise challenge was that everything our students had made using eco-friendly materials like paper, etc. got sold in the first two hours of the PTM itself.

Entering its second year of participation, GIIS Indore celebrated young entrepreneurship skills with all the more galore and enthusiasm this time. This year school has entered into the silver zone (since the school has completed a year) and to celebrate the same a grand inauguration was conducted in July, 2017. The idea was to create variety of items using eco-friendly materials and use the amount to spread happiness with the less fortunate.

A huge market-like set up was put up for our young entrepreneurs, to help them sell their eco-friendly products like paper bags, envelopes, etc. which again got sold within two hours of the exhibition start. Happy customers even placed their order for the upcoming festivals and gave their best wishes to the budding business minds of the school.

The aim was to foster the self-reliant spirit among each stakeholder that encourages them to be agents of change in their own communities. Our students enjoyed taking part in the various events organized which also made them realise that the ability to succeed in life is so much better if the result is a positive change among people around them.

At last, a video was made by the School Enterprise Challenge officials, of the school students from different countries to spread out the message of encouraging entrepreneurship among school students. Students of GIIS Indore were lucky enough to be a part of this video that has brought together students from different countries, religions, communities, and nationalities together onto a single platform.

We encourage you to share the video with your colleagues, friends and family so that we can spread the word as far as we can.
