The Vijayadashami or Dussehra festival is of a tremendous cultural significance for all who live in this land - irrespective of their caste, creed or religion - and should be celebrated with gaiety and love.
Dussehra festival was celebrated in the school campus on 20th October, 2015. A presentation were prepared and showed by the students on importance of Dussehra and how it marks the victory of good over evil. A special assembly was organised to educate the students on the relevance of Dussehra and the mythological stories that mark the cultural and spiritual history of India. The students presented a short skit on ‘Ramayana’, portraying the entire saga of Ram’s war with Ravana to free his queen, Sita from Lanka where she was kept imprisoned. The audience appreciated the creative rendition of one of India’s famous plays and the values portrayed through the skit had a strong impact on the students. ‘Good always triumphs over evil’ was the message that was passed on to the students.
India being a country of diverse religious and cultural heritage, the students were sensitised to the celebrations of various communities and the need for appreciation and tolerance of various sentiments and beliefs.
