Celebrating Indian Independence Day

Indian Independence Day

Independence Day is celebrated every year at the school campuses to educate and remind the students about the nation@aps@s Independence movement to free India from the British Empire on 15th August 1947 and pay homage to the great leaders who played an inspiring role towards freedom of our country " India" and taking it forward. The bond of brotherhood and the need to live in communal harmony for the growth and prosperity of the land.

Indian Independence DayThe program started with hoisting of the Indian flag and marching of the GIIS students. The National Anthem was sung by all. The statue of Mahatma Gandhi was garlanded and a patriotic song ‘Maa tujhe Salam’ and ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti’ was sung by the GIIS choir led by the music teacher. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Hari Narayan Yadav, a political leader and Dy. Chairperson of IDA.

A fancy dress competition was held where the students had come dressed in costumes of patriotic leaders of the country. They quoted some of the inspiring words said by these legendary figures of India on the stage in their own way which was appreciated by all. To add the spirit, parents also participated in the fancy dress competition dressed as contemporary leaders, spreading the message a united India, which is the need of the hour. The parents also participated in Indian traditional dances, elocutions and poems which depicted Indian culture and was indeed a great motivation for the students. This was followed by a fusion dance by students. The program ended with “Vande Mataram”.
