Britannica Learning Zone was inaugurated by Mr. Abhishek Kumar Sharma, Principal GIIS Indore and Ms. Pragya Joshi, Britannica.
GIIS India has tied up with Encyclopedia Britannica Inc. It will provide the students and teachers opportunity to surf through 45 volumes of Britannica Series, 11 outstanding CDs and 34 e books. Project based learning being a salient feature of academics at GIIS, the Britannica content allows internet based access to Image Quest, a library of 2.5 million images that students and staff can use for projects.
Ms. Joshi shared a synopsis on the contribution of Britannica in education with the students and staff. There was hands-on training for the staff on the use of online content in terms of usage of electronic books, preparation of different demo projects and how to add a bookmark, highlight and create online notes.
"In this age of IT, it is necessary that our children are tech-savvy and use the computer and internet to the best of their abilities. We at GIIS try to provide all the tools and facilities that would make our students competitive and competent in their area of expertise. No matter what future career path they choose for themselves, they will always need technology to be more connected, current and fast in their deliverable. These are steps that we are taking to ensure that our students excel." expressed Mr. Abhishek Sharma, Principal GIIS Indore.
Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director India feels, "It is one of the most formidable knowledge bases for improving the quality of education worldwide. The learning zone created within the school library is a repository of information." |
